GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES

GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES

PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING GERMAN LANGUAGE SKILLS AND DISCOVERING MAJOR CITIES IN GERMANY - WITH ANSWER KEY AND GRID TEMPLATE FOR STUDENTS TO CREATE THEIR OWN WORD SEARCHES FOR EACH OTHER! WORTRÄTSEL are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in GERMAN, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features five differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. There is an answer key for each word search, so that students can check their own or each others’ answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it! There's a reference sheet of all cities included in the searches, which you can share between small groups of students, or give one to each student to stick into their learning workbooks as an all-year-round reference. Use as starters, refreshers, plenaries, pick-me-ups or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when you’re discussing the geography of GERMANY. For a real focus on the cities of GERMANY, and to facilitate learner independence, photocopy all the grids as a workbook, and let students simply work their way through. The workbook format is great for home learning activities too. The differentiated word search templates are a great way of getting students to apply their knowledge of GERMAN a little more practically and creatively - they create word searches either individually or in teams to share across the classroom - completing these and the pre-prepared grids against a timer works well too! Encourage students to explore GERMANY a little further, and include what they consider to be major cities that are not already featured. The resource consists of 4 non-editable files. Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully - the resource is copyright, and for single-teacher/purchaser use only. VIELEN DANK UND SCHÖNE REISE!

GERMAN BACK TO SCHOOL EUROPE POSTERS

GERMAN BACK TO SCHOOL EUROPE POSTERS

These posters are always really popular with my students and great for the beginning of a new school year to decorate your learning environment. They’re really useful for creating and instant and comprehensive introduction to EUROPE! There are 72 posters (8.5 x 11) in GERMAN showing EUROPEAN countries, capital cities and flags. They give your classroom a great multicultural look and feel, at the same time promoting GERMAN as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of your - and your students’ - classroom. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the posters can help students develop their general knowledge and understanding of EUROPEAN GEOGRAPHY. I’ve included a range of islands, such as the FAROE ISLANDS, to extend students’ knowledge of EUROPE a little further, and I’ve also shown some countries, for example ARMENIA, that are often classed as belonging either to EUROPE or to ASIA. I’ve also included two posters for some countries, such as FRANCE, officially known as FRANZÖSISCHE REPUBLIK - you can choose either that, or the more frequently-used FRANKREICH to display. The posters look great displayed horizontally across a particular learning area - alphabetically works well, though non-alphabetically is perfect for a country quest activity! They’re ideal for the annual EUROPE DAY celebration, and THE EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES, as well as an all year round display. Laminate for longevity - you’ll be able to display your EUROPA posters for years to come! I’ve classed the posters as suitable for age 11-18, as it really does depend on when your students began GERMAN, and what kinds of classroom decor is most useful for them at any particular time. The resource consists of a single, non-editable file; please read the TERMS OF USE carefully - the resource is copyright, and for single-classroom / teacher / purchaser use only. GERMAN VOCABULARY 4

GERMAN VOCABULARY 4

This is a pack of 198 matching GERMAN and ENGLISH vocabulary cards with an 18-page REFERENCE, RECALL & WRITE WORKBOOK The games and activities really do help students to develop and embed their beginning GERMAN vocabulary in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work. Students can quiz/test themselves and each other on a regular basis - they’re a very popular alternative to more traditional vocabulary ‘drilling tasks’, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. This set features 99 BEGINNERS’ WORDS AND PHRASES that students are likely to meet in the INTRODUCTORY stages of their GERMAN learning: Länder die Zahlen 61-80 die Uhrzeit (o’clock) Adjektive Verbindungswörter Fragewörter Fragen und Antworten There are two non-editable files in a zipped format: 198 matching GERMAN and ENGLISH game cards, with all the words and phrases to use in a variety of games and activities - I’ve suggested a range of games and activities that have worked well for me. This file also includes the game card template, which encourages your students to apply their developing knowledge of GERMAN practically and creatively. REFERENCE, RECALL & WRITE workbook. All the words and phrases are listed GERMAN-ENGLISH in language categories, and there are 3 differentiated RECALL & WRITE challenges to help your students really get to know the vocabulary: CHILLOUT CHALLENGE: students write from memory all the words and phrases in ENGLISH from a GERMAN prompt - all the words/phrases are in their language category CHAMPION CHALLENGE: students write from memory all the words and phrases in GERMAN from an ENGLISH prompt - again, all the words and phrases are in their language category SUPERCHARGED CHALLENGE: all the words and phrases appear in random order, and switch from GERMAN to ENGLISH at each question - this really does put students’ memories to the test! Die Olympischen Spiele 2016 Rio

Die Olympischen Spiele 2016 Rio

Powerpoint which presents key vocabulary to do with sports at the Olympics, as well as pushing students to write complex, then very complex, sentences about why they might want to (not) see certain events or visit the games. Should cover a whole lesson, depending on your lesson length and what else you do, of course, hence I´ve put it as a whole lesson, rather than a presentation. Note - this is adapted (only slightly!) from the version already on here that I made for the London 2012 Olympics, so you might recognise a lot of it!

GERMAN SPEAKING CARDS 2

GERMAN SPEAKING CARDS 2

PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING SPEAKING SKILLS IN GERMAN - QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WITH A FOCUS ON GENERAL CONVERSATION AND CULTURAL INFORMATION - 100 QUESTION & ANSWER CARDS WITH REFERENCE BOOKLET PERFECT for speaking practice, and multi-skill language learning, TALK TIME IN GERMAN is a set of 100 question and answer prompt cards that give your students structured talk opportunities, and will also get them listening, reading and writing. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work. The prompt cards feature language and structures that your students are likely to meet in the earlier stages of their GERMAN learning - I’ve classed the resource as suitable for ages 11-14, but it really does depend on the age at which your students began their GERMAN learning, and the stage they’re currently working at. The reference booklet includes all the questions and answers written out in full. Students use the NOTES AND NEXT STEPS template to reflect on their learning, and think about what they might reasonably do to progress in their learning. The question and answer writing templates give students the opportunity to apply their GERMAN very practically, as they create both questions and answers for each other. This is a great team activity too. This set is a great complementary resource to other sets in the TALK TIME series in terms of learner progression, but it works perfectly well as a standalone resource too. You can also use the prompt cards for a whole range of games, and I’ve described how to play several games and activities that you can start with. The prompt cards do take a bit of prep: printing and laminating. Laminating is definitely recommended, as you’ll be able to use the cards for years to come. Print out an appropriate number of question and answer templates (black and white is fine). Students should ideally have their own individual reference booklet that they can keep in their learning folders to use for reference, practice and revision when they need to. SETS 1 & 2 with 200 conversation cards and two reference booklets are available as a combined resource for £5.00: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-speaking-cards-1-and-2-11428118 The resource consists of two non-editable files in a zipped format; please read the TERMS OF USE carefully. Tropenwaelder. This could be a starter for sixth form but I used it with a very mixed ability y9 (second year of German) after some phonics revision. I played each section about 3 times. The best students could pretty much understand it all by the end whereas the weaker ones could get the gist and complete most of the tasks.
