Court Wordsearch Courts Law Literacy Starter Activity Homework Cover Lesson Plenary

Wordsearch on the theme of 'Court'. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. The repetition of the word over and over as they look for the word is useful in remembering the terms. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!

(Allowing students to draw their own image to represent the key terms) These are designed to help those students who perhaps struggle with all the new key terms and words to learn for the new GCSE CITIZENSHIP 9-1 Also useful for PP/ EAL / SEN Students and those with literacy needs. Exam Technique can also help your more able students in the class. How can they be used? Here are just a few examples of how I use them. - Student complete the Q's and draw in the pictures. -Hide them around the room and have students find them before introducing a new topic (Guess the topic?) - Matching up activity. Remove the words in red (Or keep them) Cut the topic cards in half and have students find the matching pairs. -Encourage students to come up with their own extra key term topic cards or extra sentence they can use to include several key terms. -Literacy support when writing essays. -Revision material before exams. - Have a set laminated and cut out at the back of the classroom in a box for Extension activities.
