KS3 Introduction to Slavery

KS3 Introduction to Slavery

Lesson following on from looking at the British Empire. Introduces the concept of slavery - the reasons behind it and looks at the Triangular Slave Trade. Class are encouraged to think a lot for themselves about what a slave IS, why it was “NEEDED” and also who benefitted from the trade and why. There is a printable blank version of the slave triangle map at the end of the ppt for pupils to work on (I usually print as a slide and get them to stick it in) - Note: on print preview of this slide it appears as though the map has lots of shapes on it (can’t seem to fix this!) These don’t show up when printed.

TELL ME ABOUT - Elizabethan England

TELL ME ABOUT - Elizabethan England

Please use this mat as a revision game to play in groups in the classroom. This should be printed on A3 paper and laminated so that it can be re-used. This means that students can write their initials on their square instead of using counters. The way the game is played can be manipulated. However, the main instructions are as follows (also included on sheet): This is to be played in groups. Each student has a counter. They roll a dice and move that number of places. They then have to tell or explain to the others in their group about that topic. If they manage 15 seconds, they get 1 points. If they manage 25 seconds, they get 2 points. If they get 35 or more seconds, they get 3 points. Please use a great revision resource for group work. Please also leave any feedback for future revision resources and how to improve them.

NEW Revision Game War and Society OCR Modern World A spec.

NEW Revision Game War and Society OCR Modern World A spec.

A very simple revision game that can be done in pairs, small groups or as a whole class in teams. Students are to roll the dice twice to come up with their coordinates for their clue on the board. They are then to respond to the clue. If they do this successfully they win the points on the dice. If they are able to give examples and discuss for 30 seconds their scores can be doubled. I often do this kind of activity as a class with them in teams. If a team can not answer, then they must hunt out the examples before they can rejoin! A fun way to bring in and cover lots of content as part of the revision process.

Spanish Armada Tarsia Revision Puzzle

Spanish Armada Tarsia Revision Puzzle

This Tarsia puzzle covers the theme of the Spanish Armada. Great for 9-1 GCSE revision, intervention sessions and KS3 history. A Tarsia puzzle requires students to match up sides of triangles to form a hexagonal shape. They are brilliant for revision and get students to think hard. I use these at the starts of ends of lessons and they can take 10-20 minutes depending on your class’s confidence in the material. All materials are provided here including student instructions, student puzzle pieces and teacher answers. All images have been acquired through a search engine filtered to labelled for re-use.
