This is a taster lesson for KS2 pupils in French. It follows the theme of food technology (making croissants) but also covers a little general knowledge as a starter activity, culture and numeracy. It may seem slightly complicated but the language (following a recipe) is really repetitive so pupils will be able to grasp it. I used this over a period of an hour and had French handwriting sheets on standby just in case pupils finished early and wanted to practise writing out the recipe in that particular style, just to add a little extra something to their experience. Lots of pupils wanted to take the handwriting sheets home to write out the recipe in their own time. This was used with Y5 pupils from inner city schools at a mixed, comprehensive secondary school.
