Maths-Algebra-Code breaking - Team work- Activity- KS3 or KS4 - Changing the subject-Coefficients

A brilliant resource that incorporates: Algebra, rearranging equations, changing the subject in equations, applying algebra to a problem, team work. I made this resource and got offered a job when I did a job interview. They said it was the best planned and most engaging lesson they had ever seen. Keep it up your sleeve for an observation from your Head of Department or even better OFSTED. Mission cards should be printed backed and laminated and the resource can be re-used over and over.

Adding Unit Fractions 2 (Loop Cards)

Adding Unit Fractions 2 (Loop Cards)

I love to start one-to-one tutorials/interventions with a loop card activity. They are also excellent when working with small groups or as a starter or plenary for a whole class. To see all the available loop-card topics click 👉 tes.com/…/More Loop Cards….<hr>This particular set of cards allows students to practise adding unit fractions in which one of the denominators MIGHT NOT BE a multiple of the other. Note that the questions have been carefully selected so that they provide good coverage of this sub-topic and also to minimise the opportunities for students to guess answers.<hr>Colour coding: All my loop cards are colour-coded to indicate the approximate level of the questions: KS2 – red and orange KS3/GCSE Foundation – orange and green GCSE Higher – green, blue and purple Further information: In this download there are four sets of similar cards and a student chooses one of the sets and sorts them into order by answering the questions. Then they try to do it faster using a different set, which has the same questions, but a different sort order 😃 My favourite use of loop cards is for two students to have different versions of the cards and race each other. They then check their answers, shuffle, swap packs and race again (quickest overall time wins). More instructions are included in the download. Cut out card size is approx. 65 x 90 mm.<hr>👍If you like this resource, then please rate it and/or leave a comment💬. Year 1 - Summer - Block 2 (Fractions) Based on the White Rose Maths Hub

The 50+ worksheets are small step lessons that are differentiated into fluency, apply and challenge tasks. The bundle includes: working wall LO’s, differentiated small steps tasks based on the White Rose Math Hub model, a pre-assessment task (which identifies if a child is ready to start at the fluency or apply level) and a final assessment task. Planning for the unit is now included. Each worksheet includes a quick mark option where you can identify if a child has had further support (FS - guided group), individual support (S), worked independently (I), or requires same day intervention (SDI). You can also provide feedback by highlighting if they are ready to move onto the apply task, challenge or need more fluency, as well as giving a grade for their overall presentation (e.g. A, B or C), if they need to do corrections and which number formations they need help with. Greater Depth Maths Y2 Comparing Fractions

Greater Depth Maths Y2 Comparing Fractions

I created this maths resource for my greater depth maths group. This board game satisfies greater depth statement 7: The pupil can find and compare fractions of amounts (e.g. 1/4 of £20 = £5 and 1/2 of £8 = £4 so 1/4 of £20 is greater than 1/2 of £8). There are two parts to this resource: the board game and the answer sheet Pupils take it in turns to roll a dice and answer the question they land on. There is a corresponding answer sheet with space for them to show their working out. Hope they enjoy it!

Difficult Highest Common Factors

Difficult Highest Common Factors

Determining the highest common factor is a significant step in simplifying fractions. This can be difficult when dealing with larger numbers. Students may become frustrated and disengaged at an early stage if this important prerequisite to algebra does not go well. This lesson package teaches students a simple, trustworthy method to find the answer more quickly than simply guessing. In a few easy steps, they will even be able to find highest common factors of numbers above 100,000. This package includes a lesson plan, a worksheet, an answer key, and differentiated teaching suggestions. Lesson Plan What are we learning? (Including a brief review) Why is this important? What can I do with this in the real world? How does it work? (Step by step and fully annotated) Why does it work? (Theoretical underpinnings) Worksheet Two “almost complete” answers requiring students to fill in the blanks Two questions with the answer started Six questions requiring students to go through the entire solution on their own Answer Key Every answer shows the complete process, start to finish Unusual cases include additional explanations May be printed and/or distributed separately from the questions Approaches to Teaching General thoughts on teaching the concept and resource use A section for students who struggle with Maths A section for students who excel in Maths The file is professionally designed using an equation editor for proper formatting. The layout and graphics are visually appealing and deliberately structured to help students succeed. All materials are completely original.
