Christianity - Discipleship in the New Testament

This is a PowerPoint Presentation and worksheet that can be used for KS3 and KS4 or Junior and Leaving Cert classes. It can be used in both a denominational and non-denominational classroom context. It can be used as part of a module on Christianity. The PPT contains a basic introduction to the idea of discipleship in the New Testament. The Presentation also includes some discussion and writing tasks for the students to do. Learning objectives are stated at the start of the presentation. There is also a PDF worksheet included which includes extra information on discipleship and the same exercises as in the PPT.

A lesson I used for an observations with year 7. It discusses the importance of education for girls and how this links to Muslim beliefs about education and gaining kowledge. Tasks include - annotating Qur’an quotes, ordering Malala’s life events and discussing whether or not education should be included in the 5 Pillars of Islam. There is an assessment and grading grid at the end.

These worksheets were designed to go along with the Power Point presentation in the ‘Lesson on Depression for teens’ pack, which you can find here. The two page worksheet can also be used on it’s own, to help students think about common misconceptions about depression (the first activity- ‘myth vs reality’ where students circle the realities and cross out the myths!); make a list of ‘good distractions’ that can help to lift depression; and answer key questions about depression. Included is a colour and grayscale version of the worksheet. These worksheets are perfect for Key Stage 3 PSHE, English or RE lessons. They could also be used as starter activities with Key Stage 4 and 5 students.

Included in this is a PPT containing a discussion based lesson of approximately 55 minutes. There is a differentiated success criteria for each student to aim for and assess themselves against at different points as a mini-plenary as well as a challenge question to consider throughout. It is a primarily discussion based lesson on what can be a very sensitive subject. For the main activity there is an explanation of how to best present your example and the conclusion of the activity which MUST be read prior to teaching. This was taught to a year 5 mixed ability class but could easily work for KS2. Edit, use, adapt and enjoy!
