Media Audiences for A-Level and GCSE

Media Audiences for A-Level and GCSE

The two schemes of work share a lot of content, so you don't really want to buy both separately. You could just buy one and then adjust for delivery, however I have made these adjustments to suit my classes already. If you teach both A-Level and GCSE then getting both is a good idea. Main differences are grades to levels, some of the more advanced content has been removed or replaced in the GCSE scheme and some of the tasks have more age appropriate resources. I have also included a digital mark book which can help for tracking of assessments.

Digital Markbook with 6 assessment points per year group - KS4 - Years 9,10,11 - significant groups

Digital Markbook with 6 assessment points per year group - KS4 - Years 9,10,11 - significant groups

This digital mark book is designed to replace the hand-written columns found at the back of a teacher’s planner. This should help make schools go paper-less and also cut down on teacher’s admin time. You can enter up to 6 assessments per year group for years 9, 10 and 11. Each assessment can be renames, you can change the 'out of score' which will automatically update percentages. You can set the corresponding levels for each year group and the sheet will provide you with average target grades, pie charts and flight paths. You can then use this data to inform your tracking.

Year 11 GCSE Mentoring for under achieving students.

Year 11 GCSE Mentoring for under achieving students.

Can you mentor a small group of students to raise their aspirations and close the gap between those aspirations and their attainment? This is a free programme that I've put together for use in my school. It was used on students who were underachieving in three of more subjects. Effective mentoring programmes can boost students’ aspirations, confidence, self-belief and motivation. Crucially, mentoring programmes enhance participants ‘soft skills’- personality traits, social graces, communication, language, personal habits, friendliness, and optimistic outlook – which are increasingly important for success at school. Attached you have five activities - Target Setting, Exam Stress, Motivation, Revision Strategies and Organisational Skills. You will also find a student progress book to help monitor impact. If it is of use please let me know. Thanks and good luck! @MrDDelaney

Assessing and Recording without the Exercise Book

Assessing and Recording without the Exercise Book

Children often know more about science that we think; sometimes they just donʼt have the skills to write down their ideas. I wrote this book because I have a strong belief that all children, whatever their literacy levels, should be given the opportunity to share what they know about science. Over the years, Iʼve developed a range of alternative recording methods that allow children to express their knowledge and learning. These have been tried and tested in the classroom. This book outlines these methods, gently guiding the reader through each one. I cover what each recording method looks like, the reason behind using it, some ideas on how to incorporate it into a lesson and how to use it to assess children. My hope is that this book will show teachers that there are ways to record and assess science that are fun and creative and that generate enthusiasm in the classroom. Most importantly - they donʼt involve an exercise book. By using these methods youʼll find that children, particularly those who lack the ability to get things down on paper, will demonstrate an amazing science understanding. They just needed to be given the chance to express it their way! This book was written for primary Teachers but the ideas can be used in secondary schools as well.
