The Role

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher able to lead by example who will build on the success of the Academy’s provision for our children with SEND and Pupil Premium entitlement. 

 This is a key role within our Academy and main responsibilities include:

  • To professionally lead and manage SEND in accordance with the published SEN policy

  • Lead and line manage specialist teaching staff and designated teaching assistants and liaise with relevant staff, external agencies and parents

 • Co-ordinate the Academy’s Pupil Premium provision 

• Lead the Academy’s KS2-3 transition arrangements (and KS4-5 transition for students with SEND)  

The post includes the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leader. There is also a requirement to take responsibility for the running of the school if the Executive Headteacher and Deputy Executive Headteacher are absent. 

The successful candidate will: 

• see SEN and PP provision through the perspective of school improvement 

• be passionate about ensuring every child fulfils their potential 

• be capable of steering, supporting and motivating colleagues

 • understand that parents and carers have the greatest influence upon their children

 • drive forward improvements and raise standards for children with SEND across the school 

 Our recent Ofsted inspection, in February 2018, judged that our school remains a ‘good school’. The report recognised that the examination results gained by Year 11 pupils have continued to improve and outcomes have been consistently above the national average across subjects. We estimate that PP and SEN pupils gained a P8 grade of +0.4 this year. Inspectors observed excellent standards of conduct around the school.
