Job overview

Our current SENDCo is leaving at the end of the year, after being with MCPA since the school opened. We are looking for a new Assistant Headteacher and SENDCo to build on the work which they have done, to help us to provide the very best education and experiences for our children with SEND.

 Who are we?

Manchester Communication Primary Academy is a popular and modern primary school in North Manchester.

Our last Ofsted inspection graded the school as Good in all areas as ‘The Principal has created a school with a ‘heart’; a kind, caring and supportive community. There are 25 different languages spoken yet every pupil is treated as a member of the same family.’ (Ofsted 2017)

Our school is an inclusive, nurturing school with a community focus. Please do visit our website to find out more: www.mcpacademy.co.uk

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is:  hardworking, reliable, flexible and nurturing. You will need to be experienced in leading SEND provision and be a qualified SENDCo.

We are keen to hear from candidates who feel that they will be able to champion excellent outcomes for pupils with SEND through enabling well-planned support and high expectations.

What does the role involve?

This role is non-class-based but will involve a teaching commitment as suited to the experience and talents of the successful candidate.

As the Assistant Headteacher and SENDCo you will be part of the school’s SLT, with specific overview of SEND and inclusion, but also with the wider brief that being an Assistant Headteacher brings.

This year, our SENDCo has also supported Collyhurst Nursery School for 1 day per week. This may be a requirement of the role, so EYFS experience/knowledge is beneficial.

When does the role start?

Our current SENDCo is leaving at the end of the academic year, and we are keen to facilitate the best hand-over possible. As such, this role will start as soon as the successful candidate is able to. This could be as soon as Easter; or in the summer term.

If I’m still interested, what should I do next?

We think that applying for a new role should always be seen as a 2-way process, you have to be right for us, but the school also has to be right for you. So if you are interested in applying, please do give us a call to arrange a visit or informal telephone conversation with the Head teacher.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of suitable applicants.
