Job overview

We are seeking a data expert with a flare for handling, presenting and analysing data. Our ideal candidate would be an Excel expert who would like to use their data management skills to help improve children and young people’s learning and life chances.

A knowledge of school management information systems would be of benefit – but school based experience is not essential (training can be given on school systems to the right applicant).

The role is based in our academy in Havering but you will be responsible for data management across all our academies (a willingness to travel is essential).

  • To lead on the production of all data reports across all OA academies.
  • To support our teachers and academy leaders by providing them with good quality, informative data analysis about our students and our work.

Olive Academies (OA) supports children and young people who have experienced difficulty in learning in mainstream schools. We work with pupils who are at risk of exclusion, those who have been permanently excluded from school and those who have medical needs. We are a multi-academy trust with three alternative provision academies and an outreach service in London and east of England. Find our more about us at www.oliveacademies.org.uk

Application deadline is 7th November 2018 6pm. Applicants are most welcome to come and visit our academy and meet our headteacher, Ray Lawrence. Please call the academy to arrange a visit or if you have any queries about this job. T:  01708 478892

Main responsibilities of the Data Manager:

1. Maintain all student data at our academies; using our management information system (Arbor).

· Prepare spreadsheets in Excel, collating data which informs and supports the work and decisions of the Senior Leadership Teams in each academy (e.g. effectiveness of teaching, pupil outcomes and curriculum development).

· Take responsibility for the integrity of all student data held by our academies (approx. 220 students).

· Maintain documents which track and evaluate student progress.

· Manage examination results analysis and the results publishing process.

2. Work closely with Olive Academies’ leaders to produce and manage data reports.

· Demonstrate the ability to work closely with colleagues and respond to data analysis requests.

· Guide and support staff with data collection systems and use of Arbor.

· Prepare comparative national data for benchmarking purposes; developing data based evidence about the effectiveness of our academies’ work with children and young people.

· Liaise with external agencies (such as Department for Education, Ofsted or local authority) and ensure that statutory statistical returns are compliant and made accurately.

3. Use data analysis to effectively inform Olive Academies’ strategies and practice.

· Use data to produce accurate and compelling reports about Olive Academies’ performance for a wide range of audiences.

· Be a creative problem solver; able to challenge and suggest best ways to integrate our academies’ data collection systems to meet the needs of staff and students.

4. Fulfil wider professional responsibilities.

· Willing to travel between our academies* and work with all senior leaders (*ability to drive and use of your own car is essential)

· Support the trust’s values and ethos by contributing to the development and implementation of policies, practices and procedures.

About Olive AP Academy - Havering

Olive Academies is a multi-academy trust with three alternative provision academies and an outreach service in London and east of England.  We work with pupils who are at risk of exclusion, those who have been permanently excluded from scholl and those who have medical needs.  Our aim is to transform the lives of children and young people for whom traditional teaching methods have not worked.  We help our pupils to develop their confidence, gain skills and reach their potential in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Olive AP Academy – Havering provides a broad curriculum to a diverse group of young people. We cater for up to 64 young people and children, aged between 11 and 16, who have experienced difficulty in learning for a variety of reasons. The academy also offers an intervention programme specifically for those young people at risk of permanent exclusion from their mainstream school.

Our academies are based in Hornchurch in Havering, Tilbury in Thurrock and Stowmarket in Suffolk.
