Deputy Head Teacher

Deputy Head Teacher required 1st January 2018

L12 to L16 (£52730 to £58167) dependent on experience.

We are an outstanding special secondary school for students with learning difficulties, many are on the autistic spectrum. Some students additionally have other SENs. We are seeking an inspirational Deputy Head to join our dynamic, highly motivated Senior Leadership Team which consists of the Head, Deputy, two Assistant Heads and School Business Manager. Your teaching commitments will be approximately one third of the week.

You will be an experienced, exemplary teacher and role model, have high expectations of pupils’ learning and behaviour and have experience of managing challenging behaviour in a leadership role. You will lead the school in the absence of the Head Teacher, take a role in curriculum development and delivery, take responsibility for behaviour and safeguarding across the school, lead the data assessment team,be committed to working in partnership with staff, parents, governors and students and ideally you will already hold the NPQH qualification. You will have the ability to coach and mentor other professionals, have the flexibility to manage both short and long term change and your high levels of diplomacy and sensitivity to others will enable you to pre-empt and diffuse difficult situations.

You will demonstrate the ability to lead, manage and deliver outstanding lessons and a broad range of curriculum subjects differentiated to meet the needs of students working below national standards.

You will be creative, innovative, imaginative, an outstanding communicator and highly skilled at problem solving, with the vision and drive to contribute to the next stage of the school's development. You will have proven leadership, management and organisational skills, be able to lead and motivate a committed multidisciplinary team including senior managers, teachers, support staff and therapists and you should have excellent interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to engage effectively with a wide variety of people.
