Bristol Grammar School is looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Director of Sport to start in September 2023.

The Director of Sport at BGS will build upon the Schools impressive sporting legacy; setting and implementing the strategic direction for sport across and throughout the School (ages 4 to 18). They will be responsible for all aspects of school sport and all aspects of curriculum games provision, setting Sports strategic direction in conjunction with the Head and overseeing and monitoring its day to day delivery and management. Sport at BGS must involve the promotion of an inclusive sporting programme for all pupils of all abilities, as well as the promotion of sporting excellence. The Director of Sport is expected to take an active lead in ensuring the highest quality experience for all involved in school sport: pupils, teachers, coaches and parents.

The Director of Sport is the figurehead for Sport in our community. The successful candidate will exude an enthusiastic love of sport which they will be able to articulate at all levels to bring people together to engage in the sporting life of the school. They will be a committed professional with proven leadership skills, a history of reflective practice, who is able to walk the walk, and who will be both a role model and an ambassador for all BGS sports in the City of Bristol and beyond. They will wish to engage equally with pupils, staff and parents, providing a visible and inspiring presence to all in our community.

BGS on-site facilities are superb. The Sports Centre houses a large indoor hall, internal climbing wall, four glass-backed squash courts, newly refurbished strength and conditioning facilities, and a number of multipurpose areas and a designated teaching base.

The Schools extensive games facilities are equally impressive. Located four miles away at Failand, there are some fifty acres of grass pitches, two floodlit Astroturf hockey pitches, six netball courts, a 3G rubber crumb surface, 8 artificial cricket nets, 4 grass cricket nets and sixteen tennis courts, athletic areas and an impressive sports pavilion.

This will be a two-stage interview process with the first stage a remote interview and the second stage on-site.

First stage interviews will be held on 12 - 13 January 2023.

Second stage interviews will be held on 12 - 20 January 2023 and candidates must be available for both days.
