Aurora is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities. We are currently looking for an Education Administrator to join our dynamic Aurora Hedgeway School.

Aurora Hedgeway School supports children and young people aged 7-19 years old with communication and associated difficulties, typically as a result of autism or Asperger’s Syndrome. These difficulties can impact on their emotional wellbeing and behaviour and create barriers to learning.

The whole school contributes to a positive, vibrant and collaborative learning community where every student is given the care, support and levels of challenge needed to develop not just their academic abilities, but also their self-confidence, life skills and independence.

Significant investment has gone into producing a creative and enabling school environment to meet the needs of our students, including new classrooms and outdoor learning spaces to accommodate increased demand and a wider age range.

The Role:

There are two main functions of this role; the first is to support the Head of Education with any administration task, including the administration of the pupils to assist with the smooth running of the school, this will be for around 3 days of the week. The second function, taking around 2 days a week will be supporting the HR Administrator with all administration pertaining to the employee lifecycle.  

Key Accountabilities:

  • Build effective relationships with colleagues, pupils, parents/carers, social workers and other relevant parties
  • Work with the HoE to complete any daily, weekly and term time orientated administrative tasks
  • You will work independently on a range of projects that drive the progress of the school forward, suggesting different ways of working and improving process where needed
  • Correspond with parents and employees in a written form, that is legible, professional and in a way that reflects the tone of Aurora Hedgeway

Key Duties:

  • Send notifications, arrange and attend relevant pupil administration meetings, take minutes and write updates
  • Complete PEPs , SAFs and Annual Review paperwork alongside teaching staff
  • Work closely with SLT and the SENCo, ensuring records and data are up to date, compliant and in a presentable format
  • Keep all data, systems and trackers up to date including PEP, CLA and EHCP
  • Managing Pupil premium funds including liaison with Local authorities and teachers regarding resources , updating  Pupil premium spreadsheet with new resources purchased, updating  learning outcomes  and regular learning updates linked to the resources from  teachers
  • Monitor the pupils attendance, liaise with local authorities to update them on a daily basis and report into monthly KPI’s adhering to each Local authority’s deadline
  • Booking bank staff or through agency to backfill gaps in Education on the request of the HoE, create a school cover grid, complete checks and direct them to the classes

HR Administration:

  • Assist with the recruitment process in line with safer recruitment requirements and company policies and procedures, including drafting job descriptions, arranging interviews, note taking and following up on pre-employment checks
  • Process starter and leaver administration, liaising with colleagues as appropriate.
  • Support formal employee meetings by making arrangements and attending meetings to take accurate notes
  • Produce standard letters to support HR processes such as positive conduct and positive attendance
  • Liaising with Finance Administrator in relation to employ queries relating to PAYE, SSP, SMP and pensions
  • Undertake any other additional duties, which are reasonably commensurate with the role, as required, such as covering reception when needed

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of working in a school environment
  • Experience of working with school databases
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, email and web and general office systems
  • Adaptable, flexible approach to work
  • Ability to be discreet and protect confidentiality
