An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Careers & Enterprise Company, an employer-led organisation that has been set up to inspire and prepare young people for the fast-changing world of work. We aim to help motivate young people, support them in making informed choices about their future and help them achieve against those choices.

The Government has asked the Company to learn more about what works so that children can develop positive attitudes about work from an early age and make sure that primary schools have access to the tools they need to understand how they can start to build activities with employers into their lessons.  The Company has been awarded £2 million to explore new approaches to employer engagement and early careers activities in primary schools or expand ones that whose impact is backed with strong evidence.

This role is pivotal to this exciting project and we are looking for an experienced project manager with experience of creating propositions for the education sector, to lead this work. Experience of a primary education setting is essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Acting as CEC’s lead on primary work.
  • Leading the development of a new primary element for the Careers & Enterprise Company’s work.
  • Working with the Investment team on the fund to fund to support careers activities in primary schools.
  • Developing a Primary Toolkit of resources and information to enable primary schools to engage in encounters with the world of work for their students.
  • Evaluation and sharing the lessons learnt.

Qualifications & Experience required:

  • Strong track record of building and managing a wide range of stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrable experience of implementation projects, ideally across multiple locations.
  • Demonstrable experience of project management, including impact tracking. 
  • Some experience of developing propositions for both school and business audiences.
  • Some experience of developing resources for an external audience, and organising events.
  • Experience of operating in a coaching and/or advisory role to improve outcomes and performance of others.
  • A demonstrable understanding of the current careers education landscape and on government policy on primary schools.
  • Experience working within an organisation working directly with primary pupils or professionals is required.
  • Experience of teaching within a primary setting desirable.
  • Experience of developing training desirable.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to persuade and influence a range of stakeholders both verbally and in written communication and implement change.
  • Pragmatic and adaptable with the ability to deal with ambiguity and effectively manage through conflict.
  • Skilled in design and delivery of content appropriate presentations to a wide range of audiences.
  • Proactive and self-managing, with the ability to prioritise workload and manage a busy diary.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
