English Teacher (Maternity Cover)

We are delighted to be recruiting for an additional part time teacher of English to join our exceptional department for a fixed term position to cover maternity leave.

This is a part time role and we welcome applications from all types of educators to join this exceptional team on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The Department

The English Department at Poole High School consists of twenty teachers. We are a friendly and supportive group of professionals who work closely together, sharing the same goal of helping each student towards success in and enjoyment of English. 

We run a three-year GCSE Curriculum and all students take both AQA English Language and AQA English Literature. For sixth form students, we offer A-Level English Language and Literature and Media Studies. The Department naturally takes a large degree of responsibility for developing Literacy across the curriculum. 

In our organisation of teaching groups, there is a balance between mixed ability and expressly academic classes. Department procedures are in place to ensure a composed and productive learning atmosphere in a purpose-built block separate from the rest of the school. Classrooms are equipped with projectors and we are well-resourced in terms of teaching materials and texts.

We are looking for teachers to join us who offer high levels of enthusiasm and motivation; have an English or English-related degree; and will engage and inspire their students. 

The progress and the well-being of our students is at the heart of our Ethos in the English Department so the ability to consistently deliver lessons which engage, inspire and challenge learners is essential.
