Where is Chatham Grammar

Set within the Garden of England, Chatham Grammar is located in the heart of Medway in a rural part of Chatham adjacent to the Darland Banks.  The location of the School provides excellent transport links by rail to London (with the option of a high-speed service) and its main airports and is less than an hour from the main channel ports giving easy access to mainland Europe.  Gillingham railway station is just a 15-20 minute walk away.  The School also has excellent transport links by road from the M2/A2 (and has free car parking!).

Within close proximity of the School, there are a wide range of leisure and cultural activities.  Just five minutes from the academy you will find the Chatham Ski Centre (the only one of its kind in Kent) and the neighbouring Capstone Country Park offering nice walks, fishing, café and children’s play area and some fifteen minutes by car brings you to Historic Dockyard Chatham, one of Britain’s leading maritime heritage destinations where you can explore galleries and museums and enjoy a multitude of festivals and events throughout the year.  The nearby Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre offers a wide range of retail outlets if you are in need of some retail therapy alongside a range of and restaurants and cafes. Slightly further afield (about fifteen minutes by car) the Dockside Outlet centre sports over 40 great retailers, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, gyms, hotels and a newly built Odeon Cinema.

The local area boasts great sporting facilities and the nearby Medway Park (10 minute drive) is an established sports centre with three indoor swimming pools, gym, fitness centre, sports hall and squash courts.  Our Lead Sponsor, the University of Kent also offers a professional Sports Therapy Clinic at Medway Park and offers discounted rates to any UKAT staff.

For those that might be interested in discovering a bit more about the local area we are very fortunate to have some beautiful landmarks close by and would encourage you to visit the historical town of Rochester, home of Charles Dickens where you will find museums, stunning historic buildings including the 800+ year old Rochester Castle and Rochester Cathedral together with a wide range of hotels and restaurants, bars, tea shops and a buzzing night life.  Or you might want to visit the more rural and quiet tranquil river village of Upnor where you will find Upnor Castle located on the west bank of the River Medway in Kent.

The location of the academy also provides a wide range of housing options, so whether you are an NQT or an experienced teacher, looking for your first property, moving up the property ladder or relocating to the area, there is a varied selection of properties to suit your needs.  We would be happy to assist you in providing useful information and contacts if you are looking to relocate to the area.

With all of this so close to the academy, there really is a lot on offer for working at the University of Kent Academies Trust.

See for yourself and come and visit us if you are interested in joining us!
