Job overview

Aldro is a gem! It is a standalone, IAPS boarding and day school for boys aged 7-13, set on an attractive 20 acre site in the beautiful west Surrey countryside and just 45 minutes from London, Heathrow and Gatwick. It was founded in 1898 and is one of very few all-boys prep schools that consciously focus on meeting the specific needs of boys.

The Governors of Aldro are seeking to appoint the next Head, with a preferable start date of January or April 2019, though a later date would be considered.

The school aims to combine excellence in modern education and traditional Christian values, with family friendly boarding. Entrance is selective, and boys go on to the top boarding and day schools locally and nationally, with many scholarships awarded each year. The school’s success lies in its emphasis on tradition, manners and fun, coupled with its ability to get the best out of each and every boy. Extra-curricular activities are endless and the happiness of the boys is palpable.

The Governors are seeking a dynamic Head with innovative ideas to take the school forward into the next phase of its development. Energy, confidence and experience of independent schools are essential. The successful candidate will be open minded with strong strategic leadership skills, and have a good understanding of teaching and learning and of the prep school market. The individual will possess the commercial and financial skills needed in the current climate of prep school education, will have strong managerial skills, and be able to provide inspirational leadership for this traditional, yet forward thinking school. The School is a Christian Foundation and candidates should be practicing Christian.
