Peninsula International School Australia Malaysia campus (PISA) is the first International School in Malaysia to deliver the Victorian Curriculum (Australia) and the Victorian Certificate of Educational in partnership with Peninsula Grammar in Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. Such Programs operate under licence to the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority known as VCAA. PISA is located in a suburb of Kuala Lumpur known as Setia Alam and is approximately 45 mins from the city centre.

About the School:

PISA opened to students in January of this year (2018) with classes from Foundation to Year 10 and will be expanding into Year 11 in 2019 with commencement of the VCE programme. The school prides itself on delivering the Victorian Curriculum to students from a wide range of backgrounds from within Malaysia and overseas. As a brand new school, there is a need for staff to be flexible and adaptable to change. This environment presents an exciting opportunity for staff to have a significant impact on the development of a new school and the implementation of the curriculum.

The role

PISA is looking for an experienced, dynamic and motivated Teacher of English to support the development of our Victorian Curriculum and VCE programmes and deliver quality instruction at the senior level. The role will involve teaching Senior English as well as English to some classes in Years 5-10. For a suitable candidate, there is the opportunity to be appointed as Head of English. The role will commence in January 2019.

Skills and Attributes

The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to work as part of a team in a collegiate and professional manner
  • Be adaptable and flexible, taking a solution focused approach
  • Ideally have experience teaching VCE English for a minimum of 3 years or Senior English including preparing students for external examinations
  • If new to the VCE programme, a willingness to be proactive and actively engage in self-directed professional development to build knowledge and skills in this area. 
  • Have a proven track record of obtaining outstanding outcomes in external examinations in English
  • Be committed to continued professional development and a willingness to share best practice
  • Appreciate the importance of being sensitive to and respectful of cultural contexts. 
  • Preferably have knowledge of teaching students for whom English is an additional language.
  • Communicate with all key stakeholders in an appropriate and professional manner
