Head of Gresham’s Prep School

(Start: September 2019)

Gresham’s is situated in the Georgian town of Holt and sits within 200 acres of glorious countryside. Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, and with the Norfolk Broads and the North Norfolk Coast just a few miles away.

The Prep School, which covers Years 3 to 8, has its own spacious and well-resourced site just outside Holt Town Centre. We are a happy and vibrant community of around 240 pupils and 40 staff and pride ourselves on providing a forward looking and exciting education, which focuses on long term aims and puts the happiness and well-being of our pupils at the centre of all we do.

The Governors of Gresham’s School are seeking to appoint an outstanding new Prep School Head to replace Mr James Quick, who retires after 15 years of superb leadership. The Prep School Head will have overall responsibility for all matters connected to the management and organisation of the Prep School, and recruitment of staff and pupils. The role involves line managing the Head of Pre-Prep and ensuring that the schools are consistent in their approach.

The successful candidate will be ambitious for the School and all its pupils and will play a key part in developing teaching and learning strategies. An appreciation of the holistic nature of a Gresham’s education, including boarding, is essential, as is the ability to win the confidence of all sections of the school community.

At Gresham’s we recognise that every child has different strengths and talents and we pride ourselves on recruiting staff who can bring out each child’s true potential. For an insight into life at our Prep School, please visit  https://www.greshams.com/about-us/film-clips/

About Gresham's School

Gresham’s is a co-educational boarding and day school for children aged 2-18. It is situated in the Georgian town of Holt in beautiful countryside, just three miles from the breathtaking North Norfolk coast.

The school was founded in 1555 by Sir John Gresham who forged close ties with The Worshipful Company of Fishmongers. On his death, he left the school in their care and strong links with them and the City of London remain to this day.

The school enjoys a generous campus with excellent facilities including a state-of-the-art music building (Britten) with its own recording studio, indoor and outdoor performance spaces including a theatre (Auden), multi-surface sports pitches, tennis courts, swimming pool, sports hall and shooting range. The Dyson Building opened at Gresham’s in September 2021. Sir James Dyson, a former pupil at the school, enabled the innovative new centre for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) education.

The school has an impressive list of Old Greshamians including the composer Benjamin Britten, the poet WH Auden, Oscar winning actress Olivia Colman and international rugby players Tom and Ben Youngs, to name but a few.
