BISL is part of the Orbital Education group, a growing family of international schools providing a British Education to an internationally diverse student population.  In addition to our school in Ljubljana, the Orbital group have schools in Spain, Hungary, China, Russia, Ecuador and the Middle East, and there are exciting plans to develop schools in new regions across the globe. As part of the Orbital group, our staff have the opportunity to work and collaborate with colleagues around the world, supporting them to achieve excellent outcomes and enabling their students to achieve their potential.  After two years’ successful employment, staff also have the opportunity to be considered for roles at other schools within the group, giving them the opportunity to see the world at the same time as progressing in their career.

About the Role

The role is to lead the Humanities and Social Science subjects and teach Geography across our Secondary school. Our Secondary Teachers are responsible for inspiring and enthusing students in their development of knowledge and skills within Key Stage 3/4/5 and in their preparation for IGCSE and A-Level examinations.

The successful applicant will be an outstanding classroom practitioner, able to demonstrate a proven commitment to the highest standards of teaching and learning and student achievement; someone with drive and passion who believes in creating a unique, inspiring and outstanding place for learning, able to excite and challenge students of all abilities to make great progress. Applicants should also be prepared to contribute to the wider community aspect of school life, which is expected of every member of the teaching staff.

Applicants must have a relevant degree, teaching qualification and experience of successfully teaching Humanities across Key Stage 3/4/5 and IGCSE/A Level. Experience of working with EAL learners from a variety of cultures will be an advantage.

Applications from native-level speakers of English will be preferred. Because of difficulties in obtaining a visa and residency, it may not be possible to consider applicants from nationalities outside of the UK and Europe.

Applications should include a covering letter addressed to the Principal, Mr. P. Walton, along with an up-to-date curriculum vitae, photograph and details of three referees, one of whom should be the current or most recent employer.

Applications should be sent, as one combined PDF document, by e-mail with “HOH2019” in the subject field to vacancies@britishschool.si or paul.walton@britishschool.si.

Closing date for applications is 9 November 2018. However, the school reserves the right to appoint before this deadline once the right candidate is found.
