Job overview

About Courtlands Special School

Courtlands is a new, exciting independent co-educational special school offering high-quality education to children aged between 11-18. Committed to safeguarding and promoting child welfare, we are based in a prestigious building in the centre of Goring that has recently been renovated to the highest standards.

Pupils who attend will have an ECHP and experience a range of special educational needs including: MLD, ASC, ADHD and/or other specific learning difficulties. With a maximum of 65 pupils and small classes with high staff to pupil ratios, the school will have a broad, responsive curriculum with a range of therapy and intervention programmes. Individual classroom with the very latest assistive technology will support each child in achieving their potential.

The Role

As a new school we are looking for an experienced leader who has previously worked successfully in special education at Deputy Head or Head Teacher level. The prospective Head Teacher will understand that leadership and management of the school will encompass a range of processes which contribute to outstanding pupils’ outcomes, meets pupils’ special needs and personal development, keeps children safe, maintains high levels of staff motivation, manages and develops the school roll, manages finance and meets budgets, supports growth planning, meets regulatory requirements, and work effectively and collaboratively with parents, carers and other agencies.

This is an amazing opportunity to develop a new school, working with its four core values: Celebrate, Opportunity, Reflection and Encouragement. Effectively, this means that you will be shaping the school’s culture and ethos, moulding it into an outstanding provision that will seek out innovative ways to teach and develop children with additional needs.

The successful applicant will be subject to a fully enhanced DBS check.
