Job overview

Nurturing, collaborative, innovative, dynamic educator needed to lead Cherry Hinton Primary School  on the Cambridge fringe. A great job, building on the successful leadership of the retiring Head. Recently rated “good” (Ofsted, 2018) church school (VC), with excellent community links. One form entry, very diverse.  Hugely supportive staff and governors.

Founded in 1818 by a Fellow of Peterhouse and Vicar of St Andrew’s Cherry Hinton, the Cherry Hinton Primary School has a rich history and a bright future. The whole community hopes for a Headteacher who can inspire new generations of children with a vision of transformative education for the 21st Century. The school is renowned for its nurturing and holistic approach to each child, and has successfully inspired children with a wide range of abilities and backgrounds. We seek a leader who will carry forward these strengths, whilst embracing research led innovation to address barriers to progress and attainment. We need a Head that will look creatively at the challenges of contemporary school leadership and management, who will boost pupil numbers to capacity by promoting the achievements of the school and its pupils to the wider community.

We offer:

  • an opportunity to lead a warm and welcoming school at the heart of the local community, rated Good (Ofsted 2018) and Outstanding (SIAMS 2016)
  • a very diverse group of children who love learning and live the school values
  • a staff community with low turnover, committed to collaborative leadership and excellence across the board.
  • a supportive and cohesive governing body with high expectations of pupil behaviour, attainment and inclusion
  • a wonderful school site with modern buildings and a very large area of outside play spaces of various types, supported by a live-in Caretaker.

We require a headteacher who will:

  • have the highest expectations for children’s attainment, personal development and behaviour
  • embody and promote a strong Christian character and demonstrate effective church school leadership
  • be passionate about progress through the development of, and investment in others
  • drive maximum performance through strong and fair leadership
  • have compassion and understanding for diversity and social responsibilities
  • lead by example, with integrity and credibility.
