Job overview

We believe that the most challenging and often most vulnerable students deserve access to an education that will recognise and play to their strengths, allow them to gain new skills and to achieve success. Founded on the core principle of ‘no barriers only potential’ and an absolute commitment to no exclusions the Brunel SEN Multi Academy Trust (BSM) will welcome Chalet School to the group in September 2018.

In September Chalet School will have 60 pupils on roll between the ages of 3 - 11 years, all having complex learning difficulties including children affected by autism spectrum conditions (ASCs). Chalet School’s ambition, to be a member of a creative educational family committed to opening doors, opening minds, improving lives and realising potential for all, will be realised through joining BSM. Chalet School also shares BSM’s core values of ‘Aspiration’, ‘Integrity’ and ‘Inclusion’. In joining with BSM, which will consist of Brimble Hill School, Uplands School, Churchward School and Horizons College, Chalet School will be an integral part of BSM’s delivery of an effective and consistent 0 – 25 years SEN provision and resource.

Supported by the BSM and our network of teaching professionals the head teacher will lead the school, maximising the opportunities for our young people. More information can be obtained from the job description and person specification, please see the links below. We welcome applications from candidates looking for their first headship and also experienced Head teachers looking for an exciting new challenge.

The closing date for this role is 22 June 2018 and we anticipate interviews will take place on 4/5 July 2018.

To apply please complete our application form and return with your letter of interest highlighting your progressive career to date to Mary Glass HR Director Brunel SEN MAT glassm@uplands.swindon.sch.uk.

The Chalet School is a small special school, catering for pupils aged 3 - 11, with complex learning difficulties including children with an autistic spectrum disorder. Their needs are deemed to fall outside the provision normally made within mainstream schools but less severe than provision needed for pupils with long lasting and severe or profound learning difficulties, whose range of needs, within Swindon, are normally met in Brimble Hill School. Our current agreed maximum number on roll is 36.
