Job overview

Headteacher in an 11-16 Academy

Leadership 26-32 (a higher point will be considered for a suitably experienced colleague)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and inspirational leader to join Castle Hall Academy as Headteacher.

Castle Hall Academy in Mirfield, West Yorkshire became part of the Impact Education Multi-Academy Trust in September 2018 and the successful applicant will be spearheading a new and exciting phase of the journey for the Academy, its staff and the students it serves within the Impact family.

The Academy:

Despite challenging times in recent years, Castle Hall Academy has been at the heart of the community delivering excellence in education standards for over 100 years. Our vision for Castle Hall Academy to be a place where ‘Hearts and Minds Connect’ is about ensuring that we have an ethos which develops a love of learning.  Our pupils are encouraged to develop themselves as fully rounded, emotionally intelligent individuals.  We have high expectations academically but we also place a great emphasis on positive attitudes to learning and building effective relationships with others.

Impact Education Multi Academy Trust:

The Trust’s mission is very clear and aligned to the values which underpin Castle Hall Academy’s historic success; we are on a mission to improve social mobility for the disadvantaged and the life chances of children and young people.

Reporting to the Chief Executive of Impact Education MAT, this is a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with the strategic leadership across the Trust and to empower staff and students to maximise their potential, without compromising our drive to ensure that we live out our values in everything we do. You will drive forward your own vision for improving outcomes and the pursuit of excellence in teaching, learning and curriculum provision, within the framework of core values established by being an integral part of the Impact Education MAT.

The Applicant:

We are looking for an inspirational leader whose energy, passion and commitment can engage staff, students, parents and the wider community in the vision for the future for Castle Hall Academy.  To be successful, you will bring with you an impressive track record for school improvement, either as a high performing senior leader or an established Headteacher looking for a fresh challenge. You will set the bar high for yourself and others and use well-honed skills in coaching and mentoring your team to maximise the potential of all students in the academy, whatever their ability or circumstances.

The Castle Hall Academy and Impact Education MAT are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS checks are required for this post.

For an informal discussion about this exciting role or to arrange a visit to the academy, please contact Viv Helliwell, PA to Impact CEO Mick Kay on 01422 306980.

Castle Hall Academy is a welcoming, successful and ambitious school, where students gain a high quality, personalised learning experience, delivered by talented and valued staff. We value our parents and families and make every effort to include them in the full life of the academy.

Our exceptional classroom culture is key to delivering academic excellence; we have high expectations of our students and our teachers and strive to become better every day, developing character and raising aspirations.

Developing our staff is important to us; this means challenging and supporting teachers, leaders and support staff to be the best they can be, to ensure the greatest possible impact on the lives of all our students, their families and the wider community.

In March 2023, Ofsted inspectors reported that our staff value the support, training and guidance they receive and share leaders’ vision for absolute excellence. They also reported that “leaders’ high aspirations for excellence are increasingly being realised as they continue to improve what pupils experience.”

Castle Hall Academy joined Impact Education Multi Academy Trust in 2018, meaning that students and staff benefit from collaboration between schools within the trust, sharing resources, knowledge and best practice.
