Job overview

Astrum Education operates two schools in central London: Kensington Park School, a new independent school for boys and girls aged 11 to 18; and Chelsea Independent College, for pupils aged 14 to 19 who come from more than 30 countries.

Our schools’ teaching teams are among the strongest in the capital; teachers are highly experienced and many have taught and held senior positions in some of the country’s top independent schools.

Our wider staff body is responsible for integrating pastoral care, sport, music and performing arts into the curriculum in order to provide a fully-rounded education for each pupil.

With our wonderful central London locations, staff and pupils make full use of the world-leading cultural, sporting and academic institutions that are on our doorstep

We are seeking to appoint a friendly and efficient House Parent to join our boarding team at the school’s boarding house located in Earls Court in a stunning building commissioned by Queen Victoria.

The House Parent will be responsible for providing effective, efficient, high quality care to pupils residing at our boarding house.

The successful candidate will have a ‘can-do’ approach, excellent communication and organisational skills and an ability to react well to pressure. You must be confident in working with technology and have good IT skills. Your attention to detail, efficiency, accuracy and the ability to prioritise your workload is essential. Experience or knowledge of the independent school sector is desirable.

This is a full time, permanent position with start date in the latter half of September 2018.

Full details of the post are outlined in the accompanying job description. Applicants are requested to complete the application form in full and return it by email with a cover letter to recruitment@astrumeducation.com before the closing date.

Welcome to Kensington Park School.

Split across two sites on either side of Kensington Gardens, Kensington Park School offers boys and girls aged 11 to 18 an exceptionally well-rounded education in the heart of central London.

An academically purposeful school, our central purpose is, above all, to enable potential, and each student is excited, challenged, and inspired to become the best possible version of themselves. Small class sizes, coupled with a broad and balanced curriculum and outstanding pastoral care, not only prepares students for exceptional GCSE and A Level results, but enables them to develop skills they need to succeed in a fast-paced and ever-changing world.

We believe that young people flourish when they feel happy, confident, and challenged. This core belief underpins all that we do in our school, which has a friendly, family atmosphere and focuses on the individual.

At the heart of our success is the strength of partnership that exists between our staff, students, and their families. We believe that every young person should feel a sense of belonging in our school community and enjoy their learning. As a consequence, our students will leave with the skills and resources they need to take the next step in their lives, confident in their strengths and prepared to meet the challenges of the future.

The underlying philosophy of our school aims to prepare our students for their futures in a rapidly changing world by encouraging critical thinking, adaptability, and taking increasing responsibility for one’s own learning and actions whilst striving for personal academic excellence. The ethos of the school is built on mutual respect between staff and students alongside a strong culture of inclusiveness and openness, which also provides freedom for individual ambition and expression.

Our school values are summarised by the KPS REACH Code, which emphasizes Responsibility, Empathy, Ambition, Courage, and Humility.

We are unapologetically ambitious for every young person in our care, and for the school as a whole. This determination to provide a brilliant mix of motivated students and dedicated staff is part of what makes KPS such a vibrant and positive place to study and work.
