Job overview

Central Office staff work closely with schools, offering a wealth of expertise to underpin schools’ own knowledge. Our specialist departments, including HR, finance, technology, strategy and performance, estates, and marketing, work alongside dedicated school improvement teams. By joining us, you will provide ongoing support to schools, ultimately improving the outcomes of our pupils.

Lambeth Academy seeks to appoint an enthusiastic IT Technical to install, assemble and configure computers, operating systems and network infrastructure. Duties will also include troubleshooting problems with computer systems and server infrastructure, both hardware and software related. In all likelihood, you will be currently working in a school as an IT Technician, in an IT support role and are looking for the next step in your career. This is a school based role with a home base at the Lambeth Academy, with the expectation that you may be required to visit other schools in the local cluster as required. As the IT Technician, your role is to support the IT Service Manager in delivering, maintaining and supporting technology in academies within the IT Cluster Service. Your application should explain your suitability for the role described above and in the Job Description; both in terms of your technical knowledge and experience and your ability to work with and through others.

The IT Technician post reports to the Deputy IT Service Manager who will based at the Lambeth Academy. You will be working within a team delivering IT services to a small geographical cluster of 5 schools with a possibility of more joining.  Opportunities to gain wider technical knowledge and experience across the cluster are expected and beneficial to all. United Learning is a large and growing group of schools, which aims to provide a life changing education to children and young people across England. The Technology Department, to which the team is accountable, is based in our Peterborough office, with many colleagues working in the field directly with schools. The team has a diverse set of functions, from running critical back-office systems, through envisioning and delivering strategic projects that cut across United Learning’s activities, to the support of schools’ use of technology for teaching and learning.

Benefits

In this role, you will be able to influence the development of technology within Lambeth Academy and wider across the cluster.  You will receive first-class development, a dynamic working environment, a range of employee benefits and a competitive salary.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

About The Elms Academy

At The Elms Academy, we live by our school motto to ‘be exceptional’. To achieve this, we need the best staff to bring out the best in every single student. For many of our children, this means equipping them with the knowledge, ambition and skill to attend university and go on to have a meaningful career.

We have a relentless focus on high standards, whether this is on the learning in classrooms, our students’ interactions around the Academy, or in raising their aspirations. We don’t overcomplicate things: teachers teach, and students learn. Anything that takes away from this core focus has to come second. We believe exceptional learning is about determining the simple things that work, doing them well, and doing them all the time. If you’d like to join us on this mission, please come and visit us – we’d be delighted to welcome you.
