About the School

Myanmar International School (MIS) is a well-established Cambridge Curriculum school in Yangon, formerly Rangoon, the capital of Burma. Situated near picturesque Inya Lake and the country’s most modern shopping mall, MIS offers an attractive environment for teachers looking for an opportunity in South East Asia. With a roll of 720 aged from 3-18, classes are capped at 20 students and are often smaller with a level of resources comparable to schools in the UK or North America. Parents are highly supportive and our students are hardworking, respectful and enthusiastic. Our talented teachers come from the UK, USA and other English speaking countries.  Myanmar is developing fast and yet it retains much of the lifestyle, tradition and culture that has perhaps been lost elsewhere in the region. Yangon is a safe and peaceful place to live and work.

Values and Vision

Myanmar International School’s curriculum is split into two categories. The primary stage is taught through the British National Curriculum. The secondary stage is taught through the Cambridge international curriculum. The curriculum is well-balanced and enriching for all of the pupils. Teachers and students are encouraged to work together, in a respectful manner, to reach outstanding academic results. The school views itself as a family and the children and parents who are a part of it are expected to be proud of the establishment they are getting an education from.

The school hopes to help all students develop the skills needed to work, live and evolve in the ever changing, modern world. Children are taught to be kind, tolerant and respectful of those in the diverse society they live in. Pupils are encouraged to have a positive outlook on their academic and personal life. The hope is for students to become life-long and enthusiastic learners.
