Bassett House is a leading independent IAPS preparatory school in North Kensington for children aged 3 to 11. We are looking for a teacher with high expectations who will enjoy working in a well-resourced school with a strong team of supportive colleagues. All you need to join our happy and committed team is to be an excellent teacher, able to enthuse and inspire the children you teach and have a 'can do' approach to teaching and school life. In return, we offer excellent non-contact time and encourage our staff to undertake further training and professional development Experience in Key Stage 1 would be an advantage, although we would welcome applications from outstanding newly qualified teachers.

About Bassett House School

Bassett House School is a mixed independent preparatory school for three- to 11-year-olds. It is located in Kensington, London, in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and has about 200 pupils.

Bassett House School was founded in 1947 and is located in a large Victorian house. It is one of three schools owned by the House Schools Group, along with Prospect House School in Putney and Orchard House School in Chiswick.

The school premises also include a church hall, located at the nearby St Helen's Church, which is used for assemblies, as a gymnasium and as a performance space.

Values and vision

Bassett House School’s motto is “Where every child learns to fly”.  The school aims to foster a welcoming, happy atmosphere befitting of its setting – an old family home. The headmistress or a senior staff member greets each child by name every morning.

Teachers have their lunch with the children. A wide-ranging programme of extra-curricular activities is designed to allow pupils and staff to interact in a more informal atmosphere. The school says it is “a place where every child feels valued and gains the confidence to fly”.
