About Us 

 In September 2019, MacIntyre Academies Trust will be opening a new and exciting Academy in a purpose built state of the art building in Rugby, Warwickshire for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs and /or autism, aged between 9 years and 19 years.  

Whilst the new building is being constructed the academy which opened to 30 pupils in September 2017 is located in a temporary modern school building on the outskirts of Nuneaton.  

MacIntyre Academies is delighted to have been chosen to set up this new Academy which joined the existing ‘Endeavour Academy’ in Oxford which opened in 2014 and ‘Discovery Academy’ which opened in September 2015.  MacIntyre Academies is sponsored by MacIntyre Charity, which over the last 50 years, has developed a strong reputation nationally, as a high quality, person centred organisation.   

The Role 

 We are currently recruiting for a creative inspirational Lead Teacher for Science this is a really exciting opportunity to be part of something very special from the start.  As a Lead Teacher you will work with a trans-disciplinary team to coordinate whole school delivery. You will be responsible for planning, monitoring and evaluating in Science. You will also be required to lead a Tutor Group that will follow the school’s social emotional curriculum.  

The Academy is committed to the Professional Development of all; roles can be tailored to allow strengths to be shown as well as areas for development or professional interest to be experienced and understood.  

About You  

You will need to be an exceptional classroom practitioner with experience of implementing the Science national curriculum and accreditation pathways. The school is currently open to 55 Y5 – Y11 pupils and will expand to KS 5 in 2019. 

You will be able to implement strategies for raising achievement across the Science curriculum and be committed to your further professional development.  You will also work closely with internal and external stakeholders to successfully deliver the vision, ethos, aims and objectives of the academy.  This will enable successful learning and achievement by young people and sustained improvement in their spiritual, moral, social, cultural, mental and physical well-being in preparation for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. 

 If you have Autism, SEMH or Alternative Provision experience that will be an advantage but not essential.
