Riseholme College part of Bishop Burton College, is one of the leading land-based Colleges in the UK boasting outstanding state of the art animal facilities. These facilities house a multitude of exotic animals including meerkats, wallabies, rhea, reptiles, primate and companion species. We also have commercial boarding kennels as well as a grooming parlour to support teaching and learning practices. In addition to our commercial and animal facilities, our laboratory facilities are second to none which comprises a microbiology lab, project lab and 4 other laboratories. 

You will join a strong further education Animal Management team who have sustained growth in student numbers and a diverse curriculum. Primarily based at the Riseholme campuses, you will be an enthusiastic Animal Management lecturer delivering on related level 1, 2 and 3 practical and theory courses. You will be responsible for course management and quality improvements including lecturing groups of students, lesson preparation, planning, marking of assessed work and writing examinations. You will also manage and maintain student morale and behaviour where necessary.

Educated to degree level in a relevant Animal Management subject, you will also have a Level 2 in both English and Maths or be willing to work towards this. You will have relevant industry experience in either animal husbandry or welfare. Excellent communication skills are necessary alongside excellent interpersonal skills in order to positively engage with students and to further develop their interest in animal management. A teaching qualification is desirable, although not essential as we will support you in your teaching development.

This post would suit candidates with an animal health and husbandry background as well as being experienced in dealing with students with special education needs and disabilities.
