Oaklands is an excellent special school serving the London Borough of Hounslow that provides specialist education to students with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple difficulties and autism. From September 2018 we have a Primary school (New Oaks), Secondary school (High Oaks) and a specialist independent SEN College provision (Great Oaks). We can cater for students aged from 4 to 25 across the Oaklands group.

Oaklands is at an exciting point in its development. We recently relocated to our purpose built new school building (close to Osterley Tube Station and other public transport links) that offers state of the art facilities for our students. In time, the primary and secondary schools will be based on two sites with New Oaks Primary moving back to Woodlands Road once refurbishment is completed.

Due to our rapid and continued expansion we are looking to appoint additional lunchtime assistants (SSLA’s) to support and supervise our students over the lunch period. SSLA’s are invaluable members of our team and must be sensitive and resilient to the needs of our students. Candidates should be strong team players and be prepared to assist with the toileting and eating /drinking programmes and supervision of all students. Please refer to the job description for the full range of duties.

If you have experience working with children or young people, are reliable and possess a caring approach towards children and adults with complex needs, we would like to hear from you. We believe that all of our students are capable of making outstanding progress and we want to appoint individuals who share our belief. We offer a comprehensive induction and Inset programme for our staff, a pension scheme and employee assistance programme.

Oaklands is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and anyone applying to work at the school is expected to share this commitment. This position is subject to a satisfactory fully enhanced DBS check, health clearance and references being received. All positions are subject to the satisfactory completion of a 26 working week probation period.

Details of this post are available on the school’s website: www.oaklands.hounslow.sch.uk Visits to the school are welcome. Please contact Lindsey Banks, HR Officer for an appointment on 0208 560 3569 (ext. 107)
