The post of Principal has unexpectedly become vacant and the Board of Directors is seeking to make an appointment for January if possible, extending to later in 2019 if necessary according to the availability of the successful candidate. The Principal is responsible for all aspects of the running of the school reporting to a supportive board of directors. The new Principal of the British International School will be an experienced academic and pastoral leader with the skills necessary for leading the school into the next phase of its development. The school is in membership of COBIS and the ability to lead on accreditation and inspection visits is essential. The school community is warm and vibrant with our students going on to world class educational institutions. The post offers an excellent opportunity for a dynamic educationist to build further on a strong legacy of educational success.
The remuneration package for the new Principal includes an attractive tax-free salary, accommodation in the newly built Principal’s house, return flights, health care and full-time domestic help. Established in 2001, British International School, Lagos (BIS) is a co-education Independent international School located in the Nigerian city of Lagos. The school was founded to provide a British education to students aged 11-18. From September 2021 the school will welcome primary aged pupils to its purpose built Junior School. The school resides on a 30-acre site and accepts both day and boarding pupils. Older pupils sit IGCSE/GCSE and A Level examinations with most continuing their education in the UK or North America. The curriculum at BIS is well supported by a range of modern academic and recreational facilities, including a 25-metre swimming pool, a fully equipped library, a basketball court, and an extensive modern residential area providing boarding to a large proportion of the school’s students.
