Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team within the Sensory Support Service and deliver good outcomes for children and young people with a hearing loss in Cornwall. We are looking for an experienced and appropriately qualified Teacher of the Deaf with an excellent knowledge of hearing impairment and experience of working with children, young people and their families in a range of settings.

The Hearing Support Team as part of the Sensory Support Service provides a predominantly peripatetic teaching service working across the age range 0-25 years. The team works closely with colleagues across other SEND services in Cornwall, sharing good practice and skills. Cornwall has a successful record of inclusion in mainstream schools and longstanding close multi agency working with local ENT and Audiology colleagues. CPD is integral to the ongoing innovative developments within the team.

The postholder will ensure high standards of teaching and learning are maintained across the County and will have a small teaching caseload. They will lead on aspects of strategic developments working closely with the Sensory Lead. This will evolve with the further development of the Sensory Support Service along with national and local developments.

This position will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
