Working Pattern: Full time, permanent

The Skills Hub is a co-educational Alternative Provision for pupils in the London Borough of Hillingdon who cannot attend mainstream school for a variety of reasons. It currently offers places to pupils aged 11-16, many of whom have been, or are at risk of, permanent exclusion.

It is an exciting time for The Skills Hub as it prepares to move into a brand new purpose-built site in the 2022-23 academic year and expand its intake to 120 pupils aged from 5 to 19. The new Free School will offer extensive facilities including music technology, catering and construction rooms as well as state of the art science labs and sports facilities.

The ideal candidate

Are you a qualified Teacher of PSHE and/or Child Development looking for a full-time role? Are you passionate about promoting a healthy lifestyle with the determination to provide high quality PSHE/RSE/Child Development teaching to Key Stage 3, and 4 pupils?  Are you committed to delivering PSHE/RSE education that helps children and young people stay healthy, safe and prepared for life – and work – in modern Britain? Are you dedicated to delivering a quality PSHE/RSE education also helps pupils to achieve their academic potential?

If you have a passion for PSHE/RSE and/or Child Development and have experience teaching PSHE/RSE and/or Child Development at Secondary School level in an Alternative Provision this would be an ideal role for you. 

We are looking for people who are passionate about working with students that present with mental health needs and challenging behaviours and can remain calm and non-judgemental when under pressure. 

You must be confident teaching Humanities, including Citizenship and History, up to, and including, GCSE standard. 

The ideal candidate will: 

• Have UK QTS 

• Be highly motivated and passionate about teaching and has a   proven track record of delivering high standards with pupils with challenging behaviour in an alternative provision or similar setting

• Have a positive attitude. Is both flexible, a good team player and has a good sense of humour

• Excellent subject knowledge and a willingness to be creative when adapting teaching strategies to ensure specific learning needs and styles are delivered to suit all pupils

• Have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills 

• Be determined to provide high levels of teaching
