We are looking to appoint a qualified teacher who is also a motivated and skilled SENCO. You must be passionate about teaching and have the ability to engage our students in education, even when they may be reluctant due to previous life experiences. You will be part of a dedicated team committed to providing our students with the very best outcomes through academic and vocational studies; a qualified SENCO with a proven track record of raising the achievement of pupils with SEN through leading and managing high quality provision.

The successful candidate must be passionate about teaching and learning.  Ideally, you will have prior experience and expertise in the teaching of special educational needs and experience of leadership in this area.  We are looking for a candidate who will continue to drive forward high standards to ensure a high quality provision that enables students with SEND to achieve outstanding outcomes, including progress, attendance and behaviour.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal and Senior Leadership team, taking responsibility for the strategic direction and integrated operational delivery of the school’s SEND provision in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice. You will work with departmental staff to ensure that pastoral and academic support for the school’s SEND students is appropriate, well managed and ensures best outcomes for all. 

We are looking for: 

· a secondary Inclusion Leader/SENCO with a proven track record in leading and managing all aspects of Inclusion

· someone who has excellent knowledge and understanding of up to date SEND legislation and guidance

· someone who is committed to raising standards for all students

· someone with strong leadership and good organisational skills

· someone who can take responsibility for specialist teaching staff and designated teaching assistants, and who can effectively liaise with relevant staff, external agencies and parents.

Welcome to Colne Valley High School, a school that is proud of its history and principles.  Founded in 1956, our school was one of the first schools in England and Wales to be built as a true comprehensive school.  The aims of the school and the principles of a comprehensive education are as strong today as they were over 50 years ago.
