Science Technician - Technical Lead

The Prospect Trust is a leading Multi-Academy Trust in the South of England, with an aim of providing outstanding education for all learners within a family of local academies. There are currently three academies within the Trust: The Sixth Form College Farnborough, Tomlinscote School and Frimley Church of England Junior School.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Science Technician Team within an outstanding Secondary School.

We are looking for an experienced Science Technician to work in a busy science department, facilitating the provision of high-quality education to our students, leading on the technical aspects of the department. The vacancy would suit someone who is practically minded, resourceful and enthusiastic and who enjoys working as part of a busy team alongside students and teaching professionals. 

Applicants should be able to demonstrate flexibility, good organisation, communication and IT skills. Previous experience working under laboratory conditions is essential to enable the successful applicant to take on the technical lead responsibilities. Working within a school environment would be beneficial, although not essential, as full training will be given. 

The School

Tomlinscote is a highly successful, over-subscribed, mixed comprehensive school of approximately 1500 students. Our staff enjoy working here because our standards, facilities and staff well-being are excellent.

Our students are a pleasure to teach and make excellent progress as shown by the positive examination data. All Tomlinscote students and teaching staff have their own iPad to enhance learning inside or outside of the classroom. 

As a new member of staff you will receive plenty of support from your colleagues both from the department and from the wider school community.

Salary: PS4 £17,827.01 - £19,542.44 per annum (£20,722.00 - £22,716.00 Full Time Equivalent) + £2,000.00 per annum additional allowance for Technical Lead responsibilities

Contract/Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday - Friday, term time only
