Job overview

Sage College is a small, friendly mixed private school of 300 students from 18 months to 18 years. We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher for Physical Education teacher for Secondary in combination with MFL French in Primary and Secondary. We hope to be able to offer French as an IGCSE starting 2019.

PE and French is taught twice a week in Secondary and once a week in Primary. By combining the two subjects we can offer a full time position at the school. The ideal candidate would be someone with experience of teaching PE or French at Secondary level, with at least B2 level French. We are a small school and don't have fantastic PE facilities. We have a 5-a-side hard surface football pitch with multi markings for other sports, netball and basketball posts and equipment, badminton equipment, rounders, hockey and cricket kits, we also have a 70 person swimming pool. Enough to run the curriculum with some degree of effectiveness. We have offered IGCSE for the past 3 years, but this year we have not had the interest in the subject to offer it to Y10. We do have a small group of Y11 students who will be completing the IGCSE PE during the new academic year.

French was introduced to the curriculum 2 years ago as an alternative to Mandarin. It has proved a popular choice and the class sizes range from 6 to 25. Most of the classes are on the same level and use the same material. We also have a digital platform which includes all the teaching resources, assessment tests and homework material. A great help for our teacher!

A full time table reflects 33 hours per week working between 8:30 - 17:00 Monday to Friday. We have department meetings once a week which are timetabled normally after school on a Monday. This is the only obligation for outside school activities.

We can only accept applications from teachers with expereince of teaching the PE curriculum at KS3 and with French language teaching experience.

If you are interested in finding out more, please complete the application form or contact Helen Lown helen.lown@sagecollege.eu for more details.
