Sixth Form Pastoral and Sixth Form Library Manager.

Full time, Term Time only (195 days, plus 2 days in August corresponding with Exam Results and 6th Form Enrolment)

Salary – Scale 4 – 6 Pro rata - Depending upon experience 

We are seeking to recruit a Sixth form Pastoral and Library Manager with a wide ranging skill set to help run our wonderful upper school library and to play a practical and pastoral support role for the 6th form.

Skills required:

• Excellent communicator and leader

• Ability to manage student behaviour for learning

• To have a passion for reading and lifelong learning.  

• To be able to promote and create a calm and purposeful learning environment in the library

• To appreciate the importance of research skills and support students in their investigations and independent study.

• To work effectively with teaching, administration and other library staff

• Efficient organisational skills

• To be proactive and engaging

• Emphasise pastoral role – skills required

• Understanding of safeguarding

• Able to contribute to the Ethos of the school 


Further skills:

• To be able to utilize Microsoft Office software packages confidently - including Word, Powerpoint, Spreadsheets and Databases.

• To use school information technology systems – SIMS, ECLIPSE, Accelerated Reader, ALPs and 4Matrix

• To keep a track on a high number of students profiles

• To be able to mentor individuals

• To have a working knowledge of UCAS University applications 

• To know the Pathway Careers product and promote Apprenticeships, Jobs and other points to the wider student Sixth form body via Google classroom.

• Ability to be involved in the supervision of 6th Form examination when required 

Training will be available in several of these areas – particularly in relation to the school systems and all relevant software.
