Teacher of Classics

Uppingham School, one of the leading schools in the UK, is seeking to appoint a first-rate teacher of Classics to join its highly successful, large and thriving Classics department. 

All Fourth Form (Year 9) pupils study a Classical subject in their first year, and thereafter can opt for Latin & Greek, Latin or Classical Civilisation for GCSE. At A level we offer Greek, Latin, Ancient History and Classical Civilisation. Numbers opting for these subjects are buoyant.

Beyond the classroom, the Classics Department organises a range of activities including speakers, visits, and a popular trip to Rome and the Bay of Naples.

Teachers at Uppingham play a full part in the life of this seven-day week boarding school, by taking on responsibilities in addition to classroom teaching. The co-curricular programme is exceptionally varied and includes a wide range of sports, CCF, community service and the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Each teacher is also attached as a tutor to one of the School’s fifteen boarding houses.

The successful applicant will be a strong and dynamic character with excellent subject knowledge and the ability to inspire pupils of all ages.
