For September 2019, we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher of Computer Science to join a highly successful and growing department. Applications are welcome from experienced and newly qualified teachers able to teach Computer Science throughout the ability range from KS3 to KS5. GCSE Computer Science is a popular choice at KS4.  At KS3 students receive one discreet Computer Science lesson a week. In our lessons, students apply Computational Thinking (CT) as a problem solving process across a wide range of disciplines. Younger pupils do a variety of Blocky based visual coding activities using FLOWOL, Micro:bit, Gamemaker and web design using HTML & CSS. Older students have been creating a wide variety of programs in Python such as questionnaires and quizzes.

 The department will be running an A Level in Computer Science from September 2019. The department is committed to engaging students through enrichment activities and maintains good links with industry and local universities; with opportunities for students to take part in workshops, competitions and work experience placements. Recent examples include Computer Science students spending a week at Cisco where students attended workshops to see cybersecurity, network and software development in action, students taking part in the annual logical thinking; Bebras challenge, working with Teen Tech and professionals at GSK to develop a health app and taking part in the Faraday Challenge day.  

The school has now moved to its new £25-million-pound building located in Stanmore, Wemborough Road HA7 2EQ. you will be able to teach in facilities that are up to date and at the cutting edge of technology. You will have your own classroom space dedicated to your subject enabling you to develop the very best teaching and learning practices. There are a full range of other facilities including; state of the art sports grounds and hall, performing arts suite and fantastic teaching rooms.

 Avanti schools are Hindu-designated faith schools. However, all staff members at Avanti House School will not be required to present themselves from any specific faith background and there will be no preference given in this regard. Avanti House secured outstanding outcomes both in terms of attainment and progress of students in 2018. The school scored a progress 8 value of 0.74 which is well above the national average, with over 80% gaining Maths and English above Grade 5.
