Please email tom.nutley@tes.com for an application form.

Tes is currently supporting a friendly and supportive secondary academy school, based in Calderdale. The school is looking to add a Teacher of Computer Science to its progressive and supportive ICT Department ideally starting in September 2021.

£10,000 R&R allowance available for exceptional candidates.

The role will include teaching and coordinating the delivery of Computer Science at KS3 and GCSE across year groups 7 to 13. You will support the Head of ICT and Computing to enhance provision and will get the chance to get involved with exciting project work throughout the year. Project work will include revising schemes of work and ensuring the curriculum is engaging to all learners alongside projects that support student attainment, well-being and engagement within the wider school. You’ll also lead by example, supporting learners to achieve to the best of their ability and you’ll enjoy that great feeling when your learners achieve grades beyond their dreams.

“The academy joined a successful Multi-Academy Trust in October 2018.  Working closely with outstanding leaders from across the trust, the academy is characterised by its high aspirations and ambitions.  Targeted and effective support systems have been implemented in order to create an environment where our students experience an outstanding education with no limit to what they can achieve.

GCSE results are a validation of the work we have undertaken to transform the academy and the results mean the academy is now recognised as one of the most improved schools in the country.  As a result, this is a truly exciting time for the academy.  We are determined to build on our initial success, increasing student numbers and constantly striving to serve our students better.

We are now looking to appoint a Teacher of Computer Science to continue our transformation.  If successful, you will be joining an organisation that places the values of Empathy, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility at the heart of our practise.  A recent external audit found that:  The values are central because senior leaders prioritise their implementation.  A programme of regular staff training, including role play, ensures that all staff, including newcomers, consistently adopt the language and expectations of the values.  Both teaching and non-teaching staff are fully committed to embedding the values in behaviour for learning.  A Year 8 pupil said that taking the values away ‘would destroy the school.’ "

The school is offering:

• A super supportive and highly visible SLT team and Headteacher;

• on-going CPD with programmes of study such as NPQML and MA in Educational Leadership

• progression support throughout the school and wider group

• support package for NQT’s/RQT’s including CPD and NQT mentorship;

• the chance to take on further responsibility such as TLR or Leadership roles in the future.

The school expects:

• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• a relevant Computer Science Degree or a related subject

• experience of delivering Computer Science up to GCSE pushing and engaging learners to progress within the subject

• a love and passion for education.
