Job overview

Teacher of Design Technology

Part-time | Permanent

MPS/ UPS

Immediate Start Available

Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form is looking to appoint an engaging and enthusiastic Teacher of Science to join our highly effective Faculty. We are a friendly school with high expectations, encouraging our students to be aspirational with their learning and to enjoy all aspects of school life.

The Role

Our successful Practical Arts Faculty is excited to recruit a well-qualified and engaging Teacher of Design Technology.  We currently deliver 3D materials, graphics, CAD / CAM and food preparation and nutrition across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Years 7- 9 follow a carousel system and complete three projects during the year. Our exam boards are currently AQA GCSE Product Design & AQA A Level Product Design. This post is part-time the equivalent of 3 days per week (on a 2-week timetable).

You

Our ideal candidate will hold a DT Qualification, PGCE or equivalent. You will be a specialist in the technical principles previously considered as Resistant Materials, such as timber and metal based materials, polymers and electronic and mechanical systems. In addition to this there may be a requirement to teach other design specialisms as this supports the department with its timetabling, so candidates who can teach a variety of areas or subjects will be particularly appealing. This post would be suitable for an NQT looking for a supportive and well-structured NQT programme.

Us

Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form is a thriving community school with a healthy and open attitude to progress and change.  The school is at an exciting stage of development, with new buildings, sports and creative facilities that opened this year, increasing numbers in all years, and a sixth form of some 300 students. Our last OFSTED Inspection in September 2017 confirmed that Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form is an Outstanding school.

Employee well-being is a key part of our ethos, we have a wide range of incentives to support staff and ensure they are appreciated and feel valued.  Our staff benefits include Teachers pension scheme; discounted on site Gym membership; Childcare vouches; cycle to work loan scheme and good relationships with a local estate agent for those relocating or renting. Also, free on-site parking and free breakfast every day.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check. The School is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all members of the community regardless of gender, age, marital status, disability, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation.
