Job overview

Due to the continued growth of  the English Department we are looking to expand our team and we are searching for an outstanding Teacher of English for September 2022.  Being in our third year of growth, we are always looking for innovative and enthusiastic practitioners who can excite and motivate our students in their learning. Should you be interested in advancing your out of class practice, we offer a number of whole school project payments and experiences to further supplement your development. Wednesday afternoons at Bohunt Horsham are dedicated to teacher CPD; we are a close-knit team and we place a very high value on the development of our staff. As an iPad 1-2-1 school, we strive for original and inspired use of technology to aid learning and to impact positively on staff workload and ensuring a sustainable work-life balance.

We are a new free school, in our third year since opening, currently home to students in years 7, 8 and 9 and having just moved into our brand new building just north of Horsham, West Sussex. Over the next few years, we will grow to become an all-through school for 1620 students aged 4-16 with a nursery facility.

We are part of the supportive and innovative Bohunt Education Trust, a MAT with eight schools including two Sixth Forms and a boarding facility. We may be separated geographically; however, all BET schools share an uncompromising belief in high achievement and high expectations, a real sense of community and a dynamic, innovative approach to education. Every BET school is unique, with its own distinctive identity, allowing staff to have autonomy over their work environment.  We have a number of colleagues within our team who have returned to education, excited by the opportunities that our ever-expanding community offers. Feedback from visitors, trainee teachers, parents, governors and local politicians always highlights the positivity of our staff and students, as well as the warmth and openness with which they are received.

We are proud to be part of the Bohunt Education Trust. BET’s approach to teaching and learning is innovative and immersive – a rich blend of the latest education thinking, technology and practice both in and outside the classroom. As a school, we set the highest expectations for our students and ourselves and this is reflected in our results and the experiences of our pupils across the Trust. Our ethos is simple: enjoy, respect, achieve. Above all we value a love of learning and actively promote the characteristics that make lifelong learners such as curiosity, hard work, critical thinking and a thirst for knowledge. We champion values that will ensure our learners make the world a better place including empathy, tolerance and kindness. Our students are empowered and supported which enables them to build life skills such as resilience, confidence and courage, which will help them to overcome obstacles that may stand in the way of achieving their potential. In English, we value reading, writing and oracy and demonstrate this through our text choice, sharing of excellent resources, our creative approach and the engagement of our students. Our curriculum lead for English helps provide a wealth of resources that can be adapted to suit classes and all students across the Trust participate in standardised assessments to provide a large data set for us to highlight strengths and areas for development.

Potential candidates may make informal enquiries by email to Ms Emily Evans, Head of Faculty for Communications eevans@bohunthorsham.com.

Bohunt Horsham is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young students and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will need to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.

Interviews will take place on Friday 15 July 2022.
