Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and inspirational Teacher of Mathematics to join our Academy from September 2019.  Applications are particularly welcomed from teachers that will be newly qualified as well as those with more experience. An opportunity exists for the successful candidate to teach A Level Maths but this is not essential.

Our Mathematics Faculty is highly regarded within our Academy and regularly achieves good examination results with students.  Students enjoy the welcoming atmosphere, support and challenge that they receive from the faculty and work hard for their successes.

You will receive access to a quality CPD programme that is transforming learning at our school.  St John Fisher is a breeding ground of innovation, and we pride ourselves on creating numerous opportunities for self and career development for our teachers.

We are an over-subscribed Catholic 11-19 mixed school with nearly 1200 students on roll (approximately 200 in the Sixth Form).  The department delivers a range of GCSE and A Level courses, and so the successful candidate will have the opportunity of teaching across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.

The school was founded to help parents to provide a Catholic education for their children, and this remains our founding principle.  We are committed to showing Christian care and concern for all staff, students and parents.

St John Fisher is going through an exciting period of transition and change under the guidance of a new Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.  We are creating opportunities for staff to be involved in a range of national teaching projects that will have a clear impact on teaching and learning and student progress in school.

You are warmly invited and encouraged to visit our school to meet other members of the faculty and see for yourself what a great place St John Fisher is to work.

St John Fisher is a nurturing and caring Christian community that provides fantastic career development opportunities.  We look forward to hearing from candidates that are motivated by this vision and want to join a school that encourages students at every turn to fulfil their potential.

Application forms and further details are available from the school website and should be returned to recruitment@stjohnfisher.org.uk by 9.00 am on Monday 4th February.

St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy is committed to the protection of our children and to best practice in the recruitment of staff.

Welcome!

As Headteacher, I am proud and honoured to welcome you to St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy, part of the Blessed Peter Snow Academy Trust.

As a Catholic secondary academy, we offer a unique education which places Christ at the centre of everything we do.

It is our mission as a Catholic academy to bear witness by putting Faith into action. Our CARE values – Commitment, Aspiration, Respect and Excellence form part of daily school life.

This is an exciting time to be a part of our community as we are on a rapid journey of improvement and are introducing a range of exciting new opportunities for our students.

We very much look forward to what the future holds for our Academy and most importantly, our students.
