Job overview

Outwood Grange Academies Trust is at the forefront of Maths education, both in terms of ensuring students are taught Maths for deep understanding and in enabling every student to leave school with a Maths qualification that opens doors for them. As well as developing a curriculum that allows for this we have also created a training and support programme for teachers to enable them to feel confident in facilitating this for all students.

Our Senior Director of Maths, Kathryn Greenhalgh, leads Yorkshire and the Humber MathsHub. This, as well as her work with the DfE, means that OGAT Maths departments are helping to inform the development and mould the landscape of mathematics both regionally and nationally.

We have a great training package for teachers new to the Trust from NQTs through to HODs which includes: Teaching for Mastery; Open Classroom events; Maths Matters; TSST; Reasoning at KS3; weekly professional development time and further programmes free through the Outwood Institute of Education. We invest in you, so you invest in our students.

There is currently a teacher position available in the Scunthorpe region and we would welcome applications to the Trust from teachers of any experience who love Maths and have a passion to develop this in others.

You could progress quickly across our Family of Schools if that is what you were looking for, through Maths leadership or through our Deeps structure; but, if you just want to be the best Maths teacher you can be, then we are also the Trust for you!

If you require any further information about this post please contact Kathryn Greenhalgh, Senior Director Maths at k.greenhalgh@outwood.com

Closing date: Midday on 17 October 2018.

Interview date: 19 October 2018.

Outwood Grange Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.

Head of School: Amber Bradley

We are proud that Outwood Academy Brumby is rated Good with Outstanding leadership by Ofsted and we are based in the friendly, North Lincolnshire town of Scunthorpe with easy access to the stunning countryside. The Academy became part of the Outwood Family of Schools in 2012 and has been transformed beyond recognition, having formerly been in Special Measures.

We provide every opportunity for children to be successful and pride ourselves on the outcomes they achieve and we were delighted that after its latest visit, Ofsted noted that staff at the academy ‘understand the needs and interests of pupils well,’ and highlighted that ‘pupils say that staff are supportive.’

We believe our success speaks for itself as we are above the national average for the number of students achieving a Grade 5 or above in English and maths GCSEs.

As we strive to become Outstanding, help to take us to the next level.

The Outwood Family of Schools pride ourselves on fully supporting colleagues within the Family both professionally and personally.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.

We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including family friendly policies, enhanced occupational benefits available (such as maternity, adoption and parental leave) with no qualifying period, funded CPD for qualifications up to and including Masters level plus other exclusive benefits including a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy.

All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.

If you share our vision, join our family.
