The position

St. Lawrence College, Athens, Greece is currently seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced Physical Education teacher as part of the expansion of the P. E. department in the school. 

Brief Job description

Our P.E. department works across the entirety of St. Lawrence College, and as with all P.E. teachers, the successful applicant for this post will be responsible for teaching Physical Education to classes across the junior and senior schools of St. Lawrence College, from Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 4. He or she will work closely with the current Head of Department and departmental colleagues in all areas of the planning and delivery of Physical Education lessons, including strengthening the scheme of work, developing and implementing assessment tasks and especially promoting broader interest and enjoyment of this subject.

St. Lawrence College places great importance on the excellence of the delivery of pastoral care and on the provision of extracurricular activities for all pupils. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to these vital spheres of British education fully and with enthusiasm. 

The successful candidate will teach Physical Education utilising the school’s outstanding sports facilities which include a heated open-air swimming pool, a full-sized artificial-turf football pitch with seating for 200 spectators, an indoor basketball/volleyball-equipped gymnasium, again with seating for 200 spectators, and other facilities including tennis courts and outdoor basketball, all set within a 20-acre school campus set in the stunning natural surroundings of the suburbs in southern Athens.

Brief person specification

In addition to appropriate teaching qualifications and, preferably, experience teaching Physical Education in a British school either in the UK or overseas, the successful applicant will possess outstanding subject skill, excellent communication skills and the stamina to realise the continual improvement of the teaching of this subject. 

The successful applicant will be available to work starting 1st January 2019, however, for the right candidate, St. Lawrence College would be prepared to delay employment until September 2019.

Remuneration

The successful applicant will receive a competitive salary by standards of British education in Greece plus Christmas, Easter and summer bonuses as well as other benefits.
