Job overview

I am working on behalf of a renowned group of international schools located in China. Originating from one of the UK's oldest independent schools, the first international site opened in 2003 and has since grown across China. They make significant strides in sport and in the arts, graduating to leading universities around the world. The group now comprises nine schools in seven cities and three countries in Asia.

The group are seeking a number of experienced and enthusiastic Physics specialists to be successfully appointed in roles in Beijing and Suzhou.

The family of schools are focused on every student achieving his or her very best in school and life beyond, this is why all students Graduate Worldwise, ensuring they are confidently prepared for the uncertainties of the future. To guarantee this experience for all their students, they look to recruit the very best practitioners in international education so that, with the school, they continue to develop as Worldwise Teachers.

The schools offer a General Science programme in Key Stage 3, a three-year IGCSE Physics programme from Years 9 to 11 and the IB Diploma. Experience of, and expertise in, teaching the IB Diploma in Physics will be an advantage. An ability to teach Physics programmes up to the post-16 level is a pre-requisite, as is experience of teaching General Science in Key Stage 3. You will be a highly effective, dynamic and collaboratively-minded teacher, able to inspire their incredible students with a genuine commitment to their academic and personal development and make a considerable contribution to our thriving department. The Science department is also highly engaged in varied co-curricular opportunities for students and is keen to expand these further. Professional development opportunities are extensive at the College and its group.

The successful candidates:

•  PGCE or QTS required

•  Bachelor degree or above required

•  Passionate about Physics and be able to inspire students to study their subject further

•  Capable of delivering Physics knowledge to the depth required at the A2 level

•  Successful in showing student progress so that students are fully prepared for external examinations at IGCSE and A level stages

•  Experienced (or willing to learn) in using formative assessment in order to advance student learning

•  Actively engaged in furthering their own pedagogical knowledge

•  Willing to collaborate with a diverse range of teachers in order to create an engaging classroom

•  Able to differentiate in order to meet the needs of all students, especially within an EAL environment

•  Willing to engage in the student's own culture (Chinese) in order to fully know your students

•  Knowledgeable in the latest safeguarding systems in order to ensure student wellbeing

•  Eager to fully engage with the students in their Co-curricular activities

•  Adaptable in the classroom in order to make full use of educational technology to meet student needs

•  Able to demonstrate that they hold the highest expectations of the students and themselves.

Note: Due to the ongoing COVID situation, some locations are regrettably only able to consider candidates who are either already in China or who are able to travel to China without the need for visa formalities, such as Chinese passport holders.  Candidates outside China may apply, however their applications will only be considered once there is clarity about the resumption of international travel.
