Job overview
Teacher of Psychology – Maternity Leave Cover
Grade TMS/NQT
Finham Park School is the Lead School in the recently established Finham Park Multi Academy Trust. Primary and secondary schools in Finham Park MAT will set out to pioneer, innovate and deliver a “World Class” education for all.
Finham Park School was judged as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted in 2015, for the second time. It is a Specialist College in Mathematics & Computing, a National Support School, and Leading Edge School. It is highly over-subscribed with a growing Sixth Form of over 300 students. We have recently been accredited to the World Class Schools Organisation – endorsing that Finham Park is a place where all our students develop a love of “learning for life”.
The Governors are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Psychology who has a passion for teaching and learning. This is an exciting opportunity for a committed and motivated professional with an ambition to become an outstanding Psychology teacher, and for someone who would want to contribute positively to additional Social Science Faculty subjects. Psychology is a highly popular choice within our Sixth Form; the position will most likely entail the delivery of Edexcel A’ Level Psychology (currently five groups in total), and also delivering Edexcel GCSE Psychology in Year 9 (from September). Experience of teaching Post 16 Psychology would be highly advantageous, as would experience of teaching KS3 students. Psychology is part of our Enrichment programme for Year 7 and 8, and it is likely that applicants would also deliver KS3 and KS4 PSHE lessons as well.
The successful candidate will join an established team, where our teachers are committed to delivering a high quality, lively and interesting curriculum to challenge and inspire all of our students. The role will commence in April 2018.

Finham Park is a popular and successful 11 -18 comprehensive school situated in the south west of Coventry. It has an excellent reputation within the local community as well as nationally and internationally. The school was re-accredited as a World Class School in July 2018.
Ofsted described the school as a place where there is a strong culture of learning and a proven track record of academic success, with students consistently making above average levels of progress in their studies in both Key Stages 4 and 5. The behaviour of the students is Outstanding.
Their eagerness for learning allows our teachers to deliver stimulating and innovative lessons that result in rapid progress. There is a clear focus on the development of teaching and learning through engagement in national research programmes with a strong structure of support at all levels. In addition, there is personalised programme of professional development and extensive opportunities for career progression.
The school is well resourced. New technologies are widely available and are helping to transform teaching and learning across a diverse range of subjects. In addition, ongoing investment has been made to the whole site - recently by upgrading science laboratories, STEM workrooms and the construction of a sixth form centre.
