Job overview

Ousedale School is a very successful two campus academy with an outstanding track record of results at both GCSE and A Level. Recent honours include 4 national awards for progress and attainment at GCSE and A Level, placing our results in the top 20% of schools nationally. We endeavour to remain in the top 20% of school’s nationally in everything we do.

Teachers and pupils enjoy a positive working relationship together. In our ‘Good’ 2020 inspection Ofsted commented that “Pupils feel safe in school and they behave well in lessons. They are keen to do well and are respectful of their teachers. Pupils concentrate in lessons. Around school, pupils behave sensibly.” Ousedale is a school where teachers can teach.

We work hard to ensure the welfare of our staff. Amongst other benefits all teachers receive more than 10% PPA time, staff have free use of the school’s gym facilities, expectations of marking outside of lessons are limited to calendared assessments only and all staff have access to an employee assistance package.

Ousedale School is a mixed 11-18 comprehensive school situated on two campuses in attractive grounds in Newport Pagnell and Olney, to the north of Milton Keynes. We serve a partially rural catchment area. There are 2000 pupils on roll, including a Sixth Form of 400. Newport Pagnell campus accommodates 1600 11-18 pupils and Olney campus 600 11-16 pupils. Sixth Form courses for pupils from both campuses are based at Newport Pagnell.

Vision

"All young people leave Ousedale ready to succeed in life. As effective learners they will acquire the character, experiences, knowledge, skills and qualifications which will enable them to thrive and lead successful, happy lives."

We will meet the words of our motto, ‘Be Kind, Work Hard, Succeed Together’.

We have an absolute belief that all children can and will succeed through becoming successful learners. We have received a number of national awards not only for our academic success, but also for our success in the field of music education. Recent honours include 4 national awards for progress and attainment at GCSE and A level, placing our results in the top 20% of schools nationally, and a local award for achieving the best results for disadvantaged children in Milton Keynes. Additionally, the school’s Sixth Form regularly achieves the highest proportion of the top A*/B grades in the region. We endeavour to remain in the top 20% of school’s nationally in everything we do.

However, proud as we are of our academic excellence, Ousedale offers much more to the pupils who join our thriving community.

Outstanding pastoral care is the norm, and extensive extra-curricular and enrichment programmes are an integral part of our curriculum. You will no doubt read our latest Ofsted report, but we would draw your attention to one line in particular that we are incredibly proud of: “This is a school where, as one pupil put it, ‘everyone is included’.” We look forward to welcoming you into the Ousedale family.
