We are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant from to join our Alternative Provision school in Burnley, close to the M65.
There couldn’t be a more exciting time to join our happy, friendly and supportive team of professionals as we undergo a period of growth and development in our new purpose-built building with excellent facilities that will better meet the needs of our pupils and enhance their education.
You will become a part of a close-knit SEN and support school team, built on the ethos of collaboration and development.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant to work with a group of pupils who have moderate to severe learning and or behavioural difficulties.
The successful candidate will:
- Assist the teacher in the delivery of the curriculum, working collaboratively to secure the best outcomes for all pupils.
- Have patience and persistence in providing specialist support and care to our pupils, with the aim of developing their independence.
- Have a creative and inspirational approach to inspire and develop our pupils to achieve their full potential.
- Have good communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
- Have an understanding of positive behaviour management strategies to support our pupils.

Message from the Head Teacher
Welcome to the Coal Clough Academy website. Coal Clough Academy is an 11 - 16 Alternative Provision for young people, many of whom have found it difficult to be successful in a mainstream school.
We are making exciting and positive changes to our school and are very proud of the provision we offer. At Key Stage 3, the focus is on supporting young people to return to a mainstream school. At Key Stage 4, we focus on providing the opportunity for students to gain 5 GCSEs to ensure a successful transition to college, training or employment.
Pupils are taught in small groups, where they study the core curriculum and can receive the extra support they require. Students are then able to make good progress as staff can ensure that learning is tailored to individual student needs. In addition to the core curriculum, we provide rich and varied curriculum opportunities ranging from vocational courses, academic programmes and programmes that support pupils' personal and social development. Many of the young people who attend Coal Clough Academy arrive here at a difficult period in their lives. We aim to ensure that we give them the necessary support to improve their confidence, self-esteem and enable them to become successful learners in school and prepared for their future working lives.
